Max Verstappen set the fourth fastest time in F1 Sprint Qualifying at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The Dutch driver is not satisfied with the work done on the asphalt of the circuit, and he suffered some bounces that were difficult to control.
“From the start of the Qualifying Sprint it looked like we were definitely off the pace, and the car was a little difficult on the bumps” Verstappen said, criticizing the resurfacing carried out at Interlagos.
“They redid the surface, but I think they made the circuit even more difficult to drive. It's extremely bumpy everywhere, which is not good for our car. In all the bumpy areas, the car jumps a lot and it wastes a lot of time, unfortunately, for tomorrow, I don't know.”
“Normally, since we are already one lap down, I don't think we are particularly strong in the race, so we will have to see how it goes tomorrow in the Sprint. I also know that there is maybe a little time around that can come, but maybe not for the Sprint We'll see what happens.”
Sergio Pérez set the 13th time in the Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying, and the Mexican deplores a loss of performance in SQ2. He mentions the conditions, and one can imagine that he is talking about the drop in temperatures, but he seems to lack justification for his new poor performance.
“We had a good SQ1, but in SQ2, I had more difficulty with the balance, I had understeer. We tried to correct the balance of the brakes, but I was limited, and it was a little confused with the program” Perez said.
“I was hoping to have the chance for a second round but that wasn't the case. It was pretty solid in Free Practice, but we struggled today. I'm looking forward to qualifying tomorrow, we got caught with the conditions unfortunately, and it was difficult.”
