Formula 1 | Ocon: Haas ready to 'take the next step'

Esteban Ocon is happy to drive for Haas next year, because the project seems very solid and very promising to him. Since signing, the Frenchman has observed that the American team is progressing, in particular thanks to a precise plan concocted by the director, Ayao Komatsu.

“I’ve been excited since the day we announced we were going there next year” Ocon said. “I think you know that what Ayao told me in terms of taking the team to the next step is what I believed at the time.”

“Since then he has reassured me 100% about the way he wants to approach things. It's fantastic to see, but I really hope they continue with the momentum and what they're doing at the moment, It’s really good. I think it’s an example for everyone.”

According to Ocon, seeing that Gene Haas and Bob Murray, CEO of Haas Automation, support Komatsu is a sign of confidence: “Ayao has full authority, which is great, because Gene and Bob really listen to her and trust her.”

“They take into account all the directions and all the discussions. They really trust the person who should take care of the organization, and that is Ayao, and like I said, it works very well. And I believe it when I talk to Ayao.”

Ocon will begin his adventure under the colors of Haas in December, as he will compete in the Abu Dhabi test day at the wheel of the Ferrari-powered VF-24, to make his mark within the team.
