McLaren has unveiled a new chrome livery for the 2024 F1 United States Grand Prix, in partnership with its sponsor “Chrome”, the internet browser from Google.
This is the second time this year that the team has brought chrome back into fashion, which also echoes its own recent history, since the McLarens were entirely or partially chromed between 2006 and 2015. A chrome livery but with a stylish different had in fact been used during the British Grand Prix.
“The reinforced chrome represents the quest for innovative design of the two brands”explains the official press release, while specifying that “touches of chrome” will also be present on the suits of the drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Apart from these two “Chrome” liveries, the manufacturer from Woking rode with a special dress at the Grands Prix of Japan (inspired by Edomoji, a traditional Japanese calligraphy), Monaco (in homage to Ayrton Senna) and Singapore (in reference to the team’s liveries from the 1980s and 1990s).
