Günther Steiner, former director of the Haas Formula 1 team, believes that Lando Norris now has a better chance of winning the world champion title than Max Verstappen.

Although he is no longer at the head of an F1 team, Günther Steiner is still involved and interested in the discipline. The Italian even makes his prediction about who will win the coveted title of 2024 F1 world champion.

While speaking with Sky Sports at the F1 Arcade in London, the one at the helm at Haas clearly sees Lando Norris beating Max Verstappen this year. According to him, the McLaren driver is in a “better position” than the current championship leader, Max Verstappen. However, the young British driver will have to count on the help of a rival team.

In my opinion, Lando is in a better position than Max. 60:40 for me”, Steiner said. “Lando needs a little help from Ferrari. If they can get in between McLaren and Red Bull, they will steal some points from Red Bull. I think Lando would like Ferrari to do that!

Max Verstappen’s last victory dates back to the Spanish Grand Prix last June. At the same time, Lando Norris has won two of the last four Grands Prix, putting pressure on the who is now 52 points ahead of his runner-up.

Is the constructor’s title already in McLaren’s pocket?

On the constructors’ side, McLaren holds a 41-point lead over Red Bull with just six races remaining. Here too, Günther Steiner does not see Red Bull winning and is certain that McLaren will win in 2024.

Now it’s not so easy [pour Red Bull]there is pressure”, Steiner said. “Will they win the championship this year? I don’t think so. I think McLaren will win it.

One thing is certain, Max Verstappen, three-time reigning world champion, will continue to fight until the end of the season to retain his world crown. For his part, Lando Norris will have to win in front of the Batavian, but also in front of his teammate Oscar Piastri, who is also looking to increase his victory count.
