Two trout centers in South-Gironde and Entre-deux-Mers

The South- and Entre-deux-Mers sector have two trout centers. One takes place on the Neuf-Fontaines lake in Neuffons, near Monségur, and the other at the Barsac ponds, near Langon. A chance for the many trout fishermen who live in this sector of the department.

These trout centers are experiencing more than convincing success. This is why they were created a dozen years ago. Individuals, owning bodies of water, understood the benefit of stocking them with rainbow trout and offering days of fishing for hard cash. Faced with the enthusiasm generated by these initiatives, the Gironde Fishing Federation decided to offer an almost similar product, but less expensive.

“To participate, you must pay the trout pole stamp, which costs 15 euros in addition to the fishing license. It allows you to participate in all organized trout centers in the department,” explains Claude Charrier, vice-president of the FDP33.

Lasso trout

“Knowing that there are 24 trout poles, this is equivalent to 72 days of fishing to wait until the opening of trout fishing,” he continues. That’s the goal. Apart from catching trout before their time, it is also an opportunity to get together with friends to spend sometimes memorable moments. This is because phenomena are encountered there. Inventor of the lasso trout fishing technique, Michel Rey is not to be outdone.

“It’s these moments of conviviality that I like. We meet up with acquaintances, we joke, we have a bite to eat. I had a good laugh when I said that I caught trout by the tail with a noose. Quite a few people believed me, especially since I hooked one that I showed to the other fishermen. Of course, it was a joke,” he says.

Dates: Barsac: weekends of January 11, 1is February and February 22. Neuffons: weekend of 1is mars.
