After a week of cleaning, the Saint-Georges-du-Vièvre swimming pool (Eure) is preparing to reopen its doors for two months. The second oldest swimming pool in the Eure department (after Bernay), with a capacity of 200 to 250 people will welcome its first swimmers July 1, 2024.
Like last year, it is Julien Tourte who will be in charge of supervising the swimming. This is the fourth season for this resident of Pont-Authou who has seriously boosted the entire schedule. “When I arrived, there had been the interruption due to Covid-19. Since then, we have had a lot of success, particularly for aquagym.”
According to the weather, the crowds were such thatan additional slot is offered on Mondays at 7:30 p.m., depending on registrations. “It’s a flexible organization, it allows us to spread out. We can only accommodate 45 people maximum, after that people can no longer stand.”
Very popular with teenagers
The structure remains family-oriented and the atmosphere is good-natured. In fact, teenagers are the most loyal to the place. Julien Tourte does everything to make them feel comfortable. Music, goals and a ball. “There’s a lot of rowdiness,” but always in a nice way. And that doesn’t bother anyone, because hours are reserved for swimmerswho welcomed this distribution.
The organization works. We have around twenty people who exercise in the corridors, during dedicated time slots.
The summer period is also a time to learn to swim for a hundred children who take lessons. It is not reserved for blond heads since about twenty adults do the same. More original, Julien Tourte proposes tounderstanding the fear of water (aquaphobia). “To do this, you have to build a relationship of trust and go there very gradually. »
A stainless steel basin to come
As already mentioned in L’Éveil, an all-stainless steel project is included in the territorial contract of the Lieuvin Pays d’Auge Community of Communes. For around 700,000 euros, this new pool will be reduced to four swimming lanes over 25 meters compared to the current five. The width is reduced to allow the passage of piping, but also to free up space for a play area with a few water jets for the little ones. In addition, the depth is similarly reduced: 2.25 meters maximum compared to 3 meters currently. Finally, a heat pump will probably be installed to take over from the solar water system, on the roof of the school.
Finally, for the most courageous, it is possible to maintain your muscles using du circuit training : an exercise course with fries, dumbbells, weights. For athletes only.
