Ottawa (VNA) – During the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam’s coffee exports to this market reached more than $4.4 million, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period of the year last.

Vietnam earned more than $32 million from exporting coffee to Canada in 2023, the highest level in the 2013-2023 period.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Cactus, a young Vietnamese company investing in Canada, decided to open a store in the bustling city of Toronto to showcase Vietnamese coffee, aiming to explore and expand the export market of Vietnamese coffee products.

Cactus opened in 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, facing many challenges. Currently, his coffee shop has grown significantly and gained a stable customer base.

With the expansion of Vietnamese brands such as Cactus, Vietnamese coffee has an opportunity to overtake Mexico to become a top 10 coffee exporter in the Canadian market.

Tran Thu Quynh, trade counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada, said the Vietnam Commerce Office hopes to cooperate with Cactus to transform its store into a destination to introduce and promote Vietnamese brands.

In addition to developing coffee brands originating from Vietnam, Cactus can strengthen franchising to expand its chain of outlets across Canada. This is one of the ways to increase the value of exports, thus bringing significant benefits to Vietnamese exports in the coming time, according to Tran Thu Quynh. -VNA
