After the broadcast of a video showing American rapper Kanye West dancing to the song “soleil soleil” by Lyon artist Pomme, the singer finally denied any possible collaboration.
While Kanye West prepares the release of his next album “Bully”, he was seen dancing to the song “soleil soleil” by the Lyon artist Pomme. The video, widely distributed on social networks, did not fail to provoke a reaction, leading Internet users to think of the possibility of an unprecedented collaboration. A questioning that did not last, since the Lyonnaise, whose real name is Claire Pommet, quickly denied the rumor on her Instagram account.
“Deep political disagreement”
In her post, the Lyon artist claims to have never given her consent for the use of this sample: “I never agreed to the use of this sample, for reasons that seem obvious to me, as I deeply disagree with the political positions of this artist.”
Very controversial, the rapper has been the subject of controversy for several years. In particular, after having made anti-Semitic remarks, or described slavery as a “choice” of black people. Even though the singer declared having “much admired in the past”she announced “prefer to respect one’s deep values”.
A committed artist
A consistent decision for Apple, known for its strong commitments on many subjects such as women’s rights. No collaboration and mixing of musical genres planned therefore, even if the rapper has not yet reacted.
