Less than five months after Jennifer Lopez filed, her divorce from Ben Affleck has been finalized. Both parties reportedly “agreed to divide all assets and liabilities” to avoid further litigation and expenses.
This is the end of a long series. Almost a year after their official separation in April 2024 and less than five months after Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, the 55-year-old singer and Ben Affleck have finally finalized the terms of their divorce. According to TMZ which broke the news, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck would both walk away with everything they acquired individually during their marriage. “Neither of the two will pay alimony to the other,” specifies the media.

Ben Affleck will retain his shares in the production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with his friend Matt Damon in November 2022, four months after his marriage to J-Lo. For his part, the interpreter of Let’s Get Loud will keep her clothing, jewelry and “various personal effects in her possession, custody or control”, as well as any assets she owns “individually or through entities of which she is the sole owner, member or shareholder” .
No marriage contract
The couple have reportedly reached a deal on their $61 million Beverly Hills mansion, which has been on the market for several months. The terms of this agreement nevertheless remained strictly confidential. TMZ also clarified that the couple had not signed a marriage contract. “Typically, this means they would put everything they acquired during the marriage into a common pot and split it 50/50,” the outlet says.
Jennifer Lopez ultimately filed to remove Affleck from her last name and restore her legal name: Jennifer Lynn Lopez. The divorce will be formalized on February 20, exactly six months after the singer’s initial request.
Despite the divorce, the two stars remained on good terms: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were photographed on Sunday January 5 in front of the actor’s house and were joined by two of their respective children, Emme (16 years old) and Samuel ( 12 years). A happy ending not quite like the others.
