Jean Smart, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka will co-host the evening to benefit the Musician’s AIDS Foundation, the day before the Oscars.
Singer Chappell Roan was chosen to be the star performer of the 33e Elton John AIDS Foundation’s annual Oscar viewing party on March 2. It was the singer himself who announced the news on January 7 in a press release, saying “ honoré » to give him the stage.
« Music has always been a force for change, uniting communities, raising awareness and inspiring hope in the fight against AIDS. Today, as AIDS continues to kill every minute, this spirit fuels our mission to end the epidemic by fighting stigma and ensuring equal access to care »said Elton John. Before adding: « David (Furnish) and I are thrilled to gather again with friends and supporters, and we are honored to welcome the bold and authentic Chappell Roan as this year’s performer, whose artistry embodies the power of music to inspire change . »
While Chappell Roan will perform on stage, Jean Smart, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka will host the event alongside Elton John and David Furnish to raise funds that will help end AIDS and to the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community.
