On December 21, Maïté died at the age of 86. The French have lost this warm and emblematic character of French cuisine, who made viewers laugh so much with his sometimes very surprising recipes. For our colleagues from Paris Match, her granddaughters gave in, with open hearts, to this granny cake, which was a bit like that of all French people. Particularly on part of her life, when in 1959, then aged 21, she marries Jean-Pierre. “Grandma Maïté kept telling us that when she got married, she didn’t have ‘a mattress to put under her ass!’”, confide Perrine and Camille.

But with her courage and strength of mind, Maïté will succeed in finding a place of choice within French television. It will also mark many great culinary chefs, such as Philippe Etchebest who participated in the show A table on FR3.
