Personalities who left their mark on the political, associative or even entrepreneurial world in Sablé-sur-Sarthe and its surrounding areas died in 2024. Retrospective.
1- In Sablé, Jean-Louis Lambert, associated with the creation of LDC
Associated with the creation of LDC. Jean-Louis Lambert died Monday January 15, 2024 at the age of 77. He had been associated with his brother, Rémy Lambert, and his father, Auguste Lambert, in the creation of the group Lambert Dodard Chancereul (LDC), and 1970.
He took care of purchasing and relations with producers. In 1984, he joined the management board after the sudden death of Rémy Lambert. Gérard Chancereul, who died just a year ago, then took over as president.
Jean-Louis Lambert retired in 2009. That same year, he joined the supervisory board and remained there until 2017.
2- Guy Buaillon, former principal of Colbert high school in Sablé
Former principal of Colbert high school. Guy Buaillon died suddenly, Monday April 8, 2024, at the age of 76. Principal of Colbert-Charles-Cros high school has Sablé-sur-Sarthe for eight years in the early 2000s, he was also very involved in the Sabolian sporting world.
President of Greta Sud Sarthehe had been a member of the Rotary. He had been a municipal councilor in Souvigné-sur-Sarthe between 1995 and 2001. Guy Buaillon was at the origin of the handball club and for a long time chaired the Sablé golf sports association, was treasurer and secretary.
3-Jean-Claude Gouin, long-time president of the flooded in Sablé
Jean-Claude Gouin, long-time president of the Inondés of Sablé-sur-Sarthe, has died Sunday April 7, 2024. He had been television repairer. A well-known man in La Flèche, Pierre Reneaud, passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at the age of 85. For 25 years, this former upholsterer was Guy-Michel Chauveau’s deputy (1995-2020). He was in charge of shops and the market, management of the cemetery and civil status.
Before that, between 1971 and 1983, Pierre Reneaud held the role of municipal councilor. In addition to giving his time for the municipality, Pierre Reneaud was very active within Flèche associations.

5-Mauricette Trassart, costume designer of Danse Mania
Mauricette Trassart died at the age of 82. She is at the origin of the costumes of many dancers of the association Dance Mania has Sablé-sur-Sarthe.
From the start, Mauricette supported her daughter Brigitte in her project and became costume designer for Danse Mania.
Mauricette Trassart had run a dry cleaners in La Flèche for many years and then worked in a CAT where she was responsible for cleaning clothes and dyeing.
She found time to take care of costumes for the association on a voluntary basis.
6- Pierre Lami, first coach of Sablé FC
Pierre Lami died Wednesday July 24 at the age of 78. A great football enthusiast, Pierre Lami left his mark in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, since he was the very first coach of Sablé FC when it was created, in 1986, after creating the sports study section at Reverdy college.
7-Tony Villaines, firefighter, center manager of the Mézeray barracks
Tony Villaines, interim center head of the Mézeray fire and rescue center and head of the Mézeray-Malicorne Young Firefighters (JSP) section, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday September 15, 2024 in La Suze.
In Mézeray, Tony Villaines had been a municipal technical agent since 1996. His death, at the age of 52, caused great emotion in both municipalities. Tribute was paid to him on the occasion of the Sainte-Barbe ceremonies.
8- Michel Abafour mayor of Saint-Charles-la Forêt
The mayor of Saint-Charles-la-Forêt, Michel Abafour, died Monday October 7, 2024 at the age of 78. A retired pig and dairy cow breeder, he has been mayor of his town since 2008. Thanks to his holiday village, Saint-Charles-la-Forêt received the bronze medal for tourism under the mandate of Michel Abafour. The latter received the regional, departmental and municipal medal of honor for his investment.
9-Burn. Monique Poillot-Rubinsztein, little Jewish girl hidden in Brûlon
The news of the death of Monique Poillot-Rubinsztein was made public on the occasion of the commemoration of the Armistice of November 11 in Brûlon. Of Jewish faith, with her sister, she had been hidden in Brûlon with Hortense Coudreuse and Léon Coudreuse, from Christmas 1943.
Monique chooses to stay in Brûlon until 1947. In 2014, she managed to obtain the title of Righteous of the Nation for the couple who hid her, posthumously. She returned to the town on this occasion.
