After the clan war over Johnny’s legacy, are we going to see a war of biopics dedicated to the rocker? Nothing of the sort for now. In Paris Match, Laeticia Hallyday spoke about the two biopics in preparation on Johnny: “It is normal that a destiny inspires vocations. I could ban certain things, but I have no intention of doing so.”

David Hallyday: “I was more influenced by my father’s songs than I thought”

It was the surprise of the week: the announcement of a second film dedicated to the Taulier, this time given the green light by the singer’s widow. Still in Paris Match, she indicated that she had an artistic crush on an actor, Raphaël Quenard. “The project, the desire… Everything starts from there, from him. His eyes, his voice, a magnetic and floating presence… for Laeticia Hallyday, it was obvious: Raphaël Quenard is the only one who can embody Johnny for the big screen,” we could read in the weekly.

This film, which some describe as official, will cover Johnny’s entire career. Directed by Cédric Jimenez, it is expected in theaters in November 2027.

A second “official” biopic in preparation on Johnny Hallyday

The first biopic announced chronologically will see our compatriot Matthias Schoenaerts play the role of the singer of “Gabrielle”. It will be directed by Jalil Lespert, ex-partner of Laeticia Hallyday.

Asked about these two upcoming films, David Hallyday declared that “everyone has the right to make biographies”. “Personally, it doesn’t bother me. Afterwards, it has to be done well. I wouldn’t like my father to be shown in things that don’t resemble him. Or betray the person he was inside. I hope it will be done well.” As for the choice of actors, he considers Matthias Schoenaerts to be a very good actor and confesses to knowing Raphaël Quenard less.
