Invited on RFM by Bernard Montiel, Dany Boon made surprising confidences about an event that occurred early in his career. In 1996, the comedian was nominated for a Molières award for his one-man show I am fine, everything is fine. More things didn’t go as planned, as revealed by our colleagues at Gala.

Dany Boon was then a very young artist, who had not yet known the resounding success which is his today. So, he is necessarily a little intimidated when he appears on the stage of the Molières ceremony in front of the big names of the theater.

The terrible moment of embarrassment experienced by Dany Boon

The artist must perform his sketch Harlequin, champion of love on the occasion of in the nomination in the category Best one-man show. But as soon as he goes on stage, Dany Boon senses that the task will not be easy.

“I go on stage to do the sketch with Harlequin’s book and I see people turning their heads and saying: Oh no! »he revealed to Bernard Montiel. While his performance was supposed to last seven minutes, the comedian only lasted three short minutes on stage.

“I was desperate, there were a few people laughing, but very few. I left the stage, I was devastated.« confided Laurence Arné’s companion. However, the rest of the evening had many surprises in store for Dany Boon.

At the end of this trying timeDany Boon found comfort with a comedy superstar. Indeed, Raymond Devos gave his support to the young artist of the time. “It was Raymond Devos who consoled me and then took me to a restaurant. He told me: ‘I experienced the same thing at the beginning of my career'”recalled Judith Godrèche’s ex.

Invited to attend the end-of-ceremony dinner bringing together the Molières participants, Dany Boon initially declined the invitation. “I said, ‘No, no, I don’t feel welcome in the theatre familyso I’ll go my way.”explained the film’s star Supercondriaque.

Far from being offended, Raymond Devos finally chose to accompany the beginning artist to another brewery. The two artists spend the evening together, to the great pleasure of young Dany Boon. « So I didn’t have a Molière, I had a Raymond Devos that day.« he remembered with emotion.

An imminent return to the stage

A few years later, Dany Boon experienced a phenomenal success on the occasion of the release of the film Welcome to the Ch’tis. His second film as director is still his best result of a French film at the box office.

Happy father of five childreneverything is going well for Dany Boon, despite the relative failure of his last film. Life for real gathered “only” 802,694 spectators at the cinema. But the artist intends to find success again soon: he is preparing a nouveau one-man-show titled Boon will do better. A title that he hopes is premonitory!
