It’s time to say goodbye to one of the main characters of “Chicago Med”. Dominic Rains, who played Dr. Crockett Marcel, will not be back in season 10 of the medical series.

Bad news for Chicago Med fans. As many feared after the Season 9 finale, Dr. Crockett Marcel is set to hang up his lab coat and leave Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Dominic Rains leaves the series

According to exclusive information from DeadlineDominic Rains, who has played emergency room surgeon Crockett Marcel since season 5, will indeed be leaving the cast of Chicago Med. The season 9 finale of Chicago Med, which aired on May 22, left the door open to a potential departure for the actor.

In this episode, Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) advised Crockett to take all the time he needed to recover from the deaths of two of his patients, a father and son. The boy had died after the doctor canceled his liver transplant due to an infection, despite the father’s insistence that not going ahead with the surgery would be a death sentence for his son.

Devastated, the father committed suicide following the death of his child. A story that greatly shook Crockett since he himself lost his daughter to leukemia.

For the moment, NBC has not yet revealed whether Dominic Rains will reprise his role for a cameo appearance in season 10, which will arrive next fall on the American channel, in order to offer a conclusion to his character.

Departures that follow one another

It’s been several seasons now that departures have been coming thick and fast on Chicago Med. Last April, co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider announced that they were leaving the medical series at the end of the ninth season.

During season 8, the fiction created by Dick Wolf was also marked by three departures: that of Guy Lockard, who played the pediatrician Dr. Dylan Scott since season 7 as well as those of Nick Gehlfuss (Dr. Will Halstead) and Brian Tee (Dr. Ethan Choi), two actors present in Chicago Med since its launch in 2015.

Chicago Med season 9 is expected to arrive in the coming months on TF1. The first seven seasons are available on Amazon Prime Video.
