Accompanied by their father, Prince Albert, the twins attended the lighting of the “batafoegu” this Sunday, June 23, a traditional bonfire organized for the Feast of Saint John in the heart of the Rock.

They greeted the crowd from the top of their princely balcony. This Sunday, June 23, the twins Jacques and Gabriella, 9 years old, were alongside their father, Prince Albert, on the occasion of the traditional Saint-Jean bonfire in Monaco. The lighting of the flame, a bonfire called in Monegasque the “batafoegu”, took place at nightfall on Place du Palais, a few minutes after a religious service at the Palatine Chapel. The children of Prince Albert and Charlene of Monaco – the latter was also absent from the ceremony – were dressed in their most beautiful clothes. Jacques, matching his father, wore a blue suit topped with a tie, while Gabriella was dressed in an elegant black dress.

On social networks, the princely palace shared some photos of the event. “The Midsummer fire symbolizes the transition to the summer solstice. The folkloric group “La Palladienne de Monaco” animated this celebration with songs and dances around the pyre,” he explained in the caption of the publication.

The Olympic torch

According to the social networks of the Prince’s Palace, Charlene of Monaco was at another ceremony, on the evening of Sunday June 23. On Instagram, several photos, also shared on Instagram, show the former professional swimmer in Paris, surrounded by several members of the International Olympic Committee and Tony Estanguet, President of the Organizing Committee of the Paris Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024. “Princess Charlene attended an exceptional concert at the Sorbonne in commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the founding speech of the modern Olympic Games and the Olympic movement,” we could read in the caption of the carousel.
