130 years ago the modern Olympic Games were born. To pay tribute to Pierre de Coubertin, the man behind this initiative, an exceptional concert was given at the Sorbonne in Paris.

Organized by the Pierre de Coubertin family association, the location was not chosen at random. It was in fact in the Sorbonne amphitheater that Pierre de Coubertin announced the rebirth of the Olympic Games on June 23, 1894.
Princess Charlène traveled to Paris this Sunday to participate in the concert alongside Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, Tony Estanguet, president of the organizing committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and actress and IOC member Michelle Yeoh.
Last week, Princess Charlene, as a former professional swimmer who participated in the Sydney Olympic Games, took part in the Olympic torch relay in Monaco. The Princess is also very involved in education through sport and drowning prevention through her Foundation.
Given by the Orchestra and Choir of the Universities of Paris (OCUP), the concert event was in partnership with the CROUS and invited students to participate free of charge. During the evening, theOlympic Anthem from Samaras, Tico Tico of Abreu, 4th movement of the 7th Symphony by Beethoven were played to conclude with Ode to Joy by Beethoven. A cocktail closed the evening.
