Charles Hamelin is preparing to make his return to the world of speed skating… without having to put on his skates!

It was on his Instagram account Thursday morning that the Olympic medalist announced that he was preparing to make a return to his roots.
Indeed, two years after his retirement, the 40-year-old athlete will work on the other side of the ice, behind the bench, as a coach.

“I am so happy to announce my return to the world of short track speed skating, this time as a coach with the CRCE! After two years away from the ice, it’s a real homecoming for me. What excites me most is being able to give back to young people, share my experience and see them progress. Looking forward to experiencing this new adventure with them,” he wrote.
Charles Hamelin received a ton of positive and encouraging comments under his post, including one from his wife, Geneviève Tardifwho said she was very proud of her lover.
