According to figures from the Ministry of Sports, the budget will increase from nearly €830 million to around €730 million.

The proposed sports budget, apart from an expected decline after the end of the Olympic Games, suffered a drop of almost 12%, going from almost 830 million euros to almost 730 million, according to figures communicated on Thursday by the Ministry of Sports. The drop is more significant if we include the drop in credits previously allocated to the Olympics, the budget falling in total from 1.06 billion euros to around 730 million, or almost 270 million euros less.

This drop breaks down between 154 million euros in Olympic credits less and 114 million euros excluding the Olympics, according to the Ministry of Sports. The allocation planned for the National Sports Agency (ANS), however, has not been specified.

Nearly €500 million for the 2030 Winter Olympics

The Ministry of Sports also specified that the financial guarantee that the State provided to the IOC for the Winter Olympics in 2030 in the French Alps amounted to “nearly 500 million euros”. This drop in the sports budget comes barely two months after the end of the Olympics, during which , 5th, achieved the best performance in its history with 16 gold medals and 64 medals in total.
