At the start of 2025, around 9 million French taxpayers will receive a nice surprise in their bank account. It will, in fact, be a transfer of taxes, around January 15. This payment is subject an automatic transfer and could offer a breath of fresh air after holiday spending.

Why and for whom is this transfer to your bank account?

Every year, the tax administration makes an early reimbursement of tax credits and reductions relating to certain current expenses that taxpayers have declared. This payment corresponds to 60% of the reimbursable amounts for the costs they incurred in 2023. And which they then declared in spring 2024.

The beneficiaries of this tax transfer are those who declared expenses such as:

– Childcare costs: 50% tax credit
– Home-based jobs: 50% tax credit
– Donations to associations or charities: 66% tax reduction
– Rental investments: tax reduction around 20%

Unlike other state aid, tax credits and reductions do not impose income conditions. In fact, all households can benefit from it.

Around 9 million households will therefore receive this advance in their bank accounts this Wednesday, January 15. This concerns 9 million tax households. So, potentially, 17 to 18 million French people will receive what the State gives them in advance tax credit.

How will the tax authorities make this transfer?

The transfer will then appear on the bank account under the following wording: “ADVANCE CREDIMPOT”. Taxpayers will also receive an official tax document in their personal space. This will then detail the amount.

The total amount that the tax center reimburses is therefore calculated on the basis of the expenses you have declared. January down payment only covers 60% of the amount due. THE Remaining 40% will be transferred in summerafter validation of your next tax return.

For example: if you benefited from a tax credit of 1,000 euros in 2024 for childcare costs that you paid in 2023, you will then receive 600 euros on January 15, 2025 in your bank account.

Please note that the tax center will issue the transfer on Wednesday January 15. However, taxpayers will have to wait one to two additional days to receive the amount in their bank account due to processing times.

The balance of credits and tax reductions will then be calculated in summer 2025. And this, based on the 2024 expenses that you have entered in the tax return that you will make next spring.
