It is the Les Rivières district which will host the third installation of its kind, after Victoria Park, in La Cité-Limoilou, and Bon-Pasteur Park, in Charlesbourg.
The new ice rink, the costs of which have not yet been revealed, will be located behind the Duberger arena, on the site of the current natural soccer field. The Journal obtained the images of the future installation.

Engagement
“I’m really happy that indoor refrigerated rinks are moving forward! It’s an important commitment that will get young and old people moving all year round,” commented councilor member of the executive responsible for Leisure and Sports Jean-François Gosselin.

In the campaign, in 2021, while he was running for mayor, it is precisely here that Mr. Gosselin made the commitment to provide Quebec with refrigerated ice rinks.
The chosen location, located along the Robert-Bourassa highway, offers several advantages, according to the analysis by the City of Quebec. The ice rink will be protected from cold winds, it will integrate into the immediate environment, which is already a sports complex, it will have sufficient setbacks from surrounding homes and its proximity to a major road will provide a “signaling potential”.
Services pavilion
In addition, the service pavilion that will be built can also be used for the baseball field located nearby, which is the third busiest in Quebec.
A negative point was noted, however, regarding the presence of a summer vacation program on the site. Activities will be disrupted during the construction period of the ice rink and the services pavilion, the analysis reveals. But in the long term, the facility could be used for day camps.
The construction schedule remains to be specified.
