Christmas comes early for the Quebec University Hospital Foundation, which received quite a gift on Tuesday, when Quebecor gave it a donation of $10 million which will contribute to the creation of the new hospital complex (NHC). This commitment represents the largest corporate philanthropic contribution to the Foundation since its creation in 2013.

The unveiling of this historic agreement was made Tuesday at the Integrated Cancer Center of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval (CHU) in the presence of Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, and Francis Morin, president and CEO of the interim management of the Quebec University Hospital Foundation.
“By giving this $10 million donation to the Fondation du CHU de Québec, we are proud to support the largest cancer center in Quebec, which plays a role of capital importance for the patients of the Capital- National and eastern Quebec,” declared Mr. Péladeau.
The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, the Mayor of Quebec City, Bruno Marchand, and Martin Beaumont, President and CEO of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval, were also present during this announcement.

Quebecor’s commitment will take place in different areas, including financing the MRI-LINAC, innovative and unique radiotherapy equipment to improve the effectiveness and precision of cancer treatments.
The donation will also contribute to supporting various projects to humanize care as well as involvement in two important activities of the Foundation, namely the Foundation Ball and its annual campaign to support the fight against breast cancer.
“I thank Quebecor and Mr. Péladeau for this invaluable contribution, which marks a significant turning point for the Foundation in the private financing of the NCH. The support of this Quebec pillar of the business community encourages the Foundation to pursue its mission: to enable the CHU to do the extraordinary,” emphasized Francis Morin.
In recognition of the donation made to the Foundation, the NCH Integrated Cancer Center will be named the Pierre-Péladeau Integrated Cancer Center, in honor of the founder of Quebecor and father of Pierre Karl Péladeau.
