The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has appointed Frenchman David Tinel as its new regional representative for the Maghreb.

In his new role, Tinel “will lead IFC’s strategy in the region to foster resilient, inclusive and sustainable private sector growth,” said in a statement released in Washington, this global development aid institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets.

“Mr. Tinel will be based in Rabat and will lead IFC’s efforts to promote private sector reforms and catalyze market development through the implementation of innovative projects.” in the countries of the region. He will also manage key relationships with customers, partners and governments, the same source said.

With extensive experience in the finance and development sector in Latin America, the United States and Europe, Tinel most recently served as Advisor to IFC’s Regional Vice President for Latin America , the Caribbean and Europe. Tinel will take up his new role on July 1, 2024.

According to the statement, IFC has worked with public and private sector partners for more than 60 years to support small businesses, manufacturing, agribusiness, infrastructure and the financial sector across the Maghreb. Over the past three fiscal years, IFC has invested and mobilized $1.5 billion in the Maghreb to foster sustainable economic development in the region.
