the incredible amount that a single person receives

In France, the RSA is aid allocated to French people in precarious situations. This is the amount a single person can expect to receive.

The people low income can claim RSA. This is an allocation The complete list of luxury perfume dupes at Lidl at low prices by the CAF to provide the French with a minimum of resources.

Everything you need to know about RSA

Since April 1, 2024, social assistance paid by CAF and MSAs has increased by 4.6%. And this includes active solidarity income, aka RSA.

As announced by Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy and Finance, the RSA also increased by 4.6%. But how exactly does RSA work? for couples ?

The CAF therefore awards the RSA to ensure a minimum income for people without resources, adapted to the composition of their household. This assistance is intended to be conditional on various criteria, including the age and professional situation of the applicants.

Currently, around two million people in France receive the RSA. Subject to specific conditions, including residence of at least nine months per year and minimum age 25 years old.

And this, although exceptions are provided for pregnant women and parents of children. Moreover, a reform of the RSA will come into force throughout the country on January 1, 2025.

This conditions the payment of the allowance on an activity of 15 hours per week. The latter is considered a colossal progress by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal because of its impact on employability.

Amounts changing with inflation

Before this reform, only one person in ten found sustainable employment after seven years at the RSA, according to the government. For a single person without dependents, the amount increased from €607.75 to €635.71, an increase of €28.

For a single person with one dependent, the amount is €953.56. And for a single person with two dependents, the amount is €1,144.28.

For a couple without anyone additional charge, the amount is intended to be €953.56. For a couple with a dependent, the amount is €1,144.28.

And, for a couple with two dependents, the amount is €1,334.99. The couple’s RSA works like this: if you live as a couple, the CAF does not consider that you have double the expenses of a single person.

So the amount of the RSA is not simply meant to be doubled for couples. The income of each member of the couple is thus intended to be taken into account.

The amount of RSA allocated can be seen adjusted accordingly. Thus, for a couple without children and before the application of the housing package, the amount cannot exceed €953.56. This information is valid for the year 2024.

RSA for a person who lives alone

At the end of 2022, 2.1 million people benefited from the RSA. To be eligible, several criteria must be met and these have been turned upside down with recent reforms.

In the future, each beneficiary will be registered with France Travail and must sign an employment contract including an action plan. The latter defines its social and professional integration objectives.

Another condition to benefit from RSA is that income does not exceed a specific ceiling. This social minimum takes into account almost all income: wages, unemployment benefitssickness benefit, movable income, property income.

But also family benefits. RSA rights are reassessed quarterly to take into account variations possible income.

As for the amounts of the RSA, they constitute crucial help. As you know, on April 1, the monthly flat-rate RSA amount was 635.71 euros for a single person without dependent children.

This amount can reach 816.33 euros for a pregnant woman alone and 953.56 euros after the birth of the child. The RSA is adjusted according to the housing assistance received, with a variable housing package depending on the number of people in the household.
