Rather popular, the Sunrise (UPC) TV offering continues to evolve. The largest cable operator in Switzerland communicated at the end of the week on its latest developments. The American-owned operator now offers the Disney+ application directly on its TV box. This integration completes an offer including more than 280 television channels and applications such as Netflix, Sky, Apple TV, Dazn, etc.
The new Sunrise TV Shop, accessible from the main menu of the Sunrise TV Box, has been modernized. Subscribing and canceling applications and TV packages is now simplified, requiring a minimum number of steps. The new user interface allows customers to easily find all applications and TV packages, according to a press release.
An improved TV box
Launched last May, the new Sunrise TV Box stands out for its improved performance, being twice as powerful as the previous model, according to its designers. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and delivers Dolby Vision sound quality, while reducing loading times and improving interface responsiveness.
On the environmental front, the new TV box from Sunrise is also making notable progress. Its power consumption has been reduced by almost 20%, dropping to around 3.2 watts compared to 3.9 watts for the old model, and it is made from 100% recycled plastic, according to the same text.
An evolving TV strategy
This TV offer goes beyond simple traditional television. The new TV Shop marks the start of a new TV strategy, with the promise of integrating more streaming services and offering attractive service combinations for customers, according to Christoph Richartz, customer manager at Sunrise.
With features such as seven-day TV replay and up to 2,000 hours of recording, Sunrise TV strives to meet the expectations of an audience seeking flexibility and on-demand content. It remains to be seen how this offer will evolve in the face of growing competition from streaming platforms and other telecom operators on the Swiss market. Particularly in terms of price.
