The consulting company EY and the Austrian conference organizer Confare awarded Zurich with the annual Swiss CIO Awards. Daniel Fiechter, CIO of Stobag, received the award for best IT manager of the year 2024. He succeeds Markus Köpfli (Group CIO of Mettler-Toledo), now a member of the jury. “Together with his team at STOBAG, Daniel Fiechter is not only creating an integrated customer journey, thereby creating value for all stakeholders, but he is also opening new revenue streams with digital services and thus generating sales through at IT,” explains the jury.

Three IT managers were also recognized as Top CIO of the year: Harald Rotter, CIO of the University of St. Gallen, Lukas Ackermann, Head of IT & Digital Services at Galenica and Sven Friedli, CIO of the Bell Food Group.

This year there were many excellent applications for the prize, explains Jan Leitermann, chairman of the jury and Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at EY. “Through initiatives like this, we can make the relevance and value of new technologies visible to the general public, and thus significantly help CIOs in their journey, while promoting their achievements.”

The other members of the jury are: Stella Gatziu Grivas, professor at the Institute of Business Informatics at the HES of North-West Switzerland; Christian Russ, teacher and department head at the School of Management and Law – Institute of Business Informatics of the ZHAW; Reinhard Riedl, co-founder and board member of all-acad.com; Alec Joannou, Global CIO of ABB as well as Markus Köpfli, Head Digital Business Services and Group CIO of Mettler-Toledo.
