This “young” writer lives in Saint-Couat-d’Aude.

The library welcomed Luc Cailler, author of Letter carriersa first self-published work. Recently living in Saint-Couat-d'Aude, this Breton presented himself as a “young writer not too old and for a long time angry with writing until I fell into reading which allowed me to discover that one could travel without leaving a room”. Devouring books encouraged him to take the plunge and get started himself, pen in hand. “The most difficult thing is finding a theme. I wanted to start from a true story,” he explained. This is how he brought back to life Jacques Dobles, 18 years old, a resistance fighter in the south of during the Second World War.

Denounced in 1943, this young man fled to Spain but under Franco…, then to Morocco. If, during his research, the author found letters which recount his adventures and encounters, the Spanish era remained empty. “Why didn't he talk about it and why did he never want to show his back? There are things left unsaid, silence, what does he have to hide”? So many questions where the author's romantic spirit found room to unfold and make Letter carriers could have been titled Passers of being.

Luc Cailler is back in the saddle on a different subject: “I’m interested in the beautiful stories of the villages but I’m just getting started.” We will therefore have to wait a little longer to know its content.

“Letter smugglers”, on order at the library, €15.
