During the last municipal council, the Gajanais learned that the operation aimed at removing a certain number of documents from the municipal library was called “weeding”. This funny name allowed its volunteers to organize what they called a “book drop” in the village, Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20.
Each year, the library removes Books from its inventory to make room for new books and books loaned every six months by the departmental library.
This is how the team of volunteers installed boxes of books from which people were invited to come and help themselves free of charge in different places in the village, in this case the kindergarten, the arboretum, the bus shelter , Place des Écoles and Place de la Porte-de-France. Each time, there were two boxes: one containing books for adults and the other, with books for children.
It was a success since the boxes had to be restocked, one of which was stolen by an unscrupulous person, between Saturday and Sunday.
For people who were unable to take advantage of this operation, it is already planned to renew it next spring.
The library is open on Wednesdays, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10:30 a.m. to noon (Saturdays only during school holidays).
