“Cairns”, the latest work by the Lopez-Teyssandier duo, is inspiring and inspired. With its different reading levels, it is like a compass on the path of life.

Cairns (Jacques-André Éditeur) is the second book by the Lopez-Teyssandier duo. The first, Dans ses pas (Vgas edition), was an exciting illustrated collection of twenty texts. Its common thread was simple and effective: a grandson follows in the footsteps of his grandfather who tells him a thousand stories including that of the white dog and the black dog.

This initiatory story where wisdom is queen sold 300 copies. “Not even enough to buy new shoes,” Sébastien jokes, “but the goal was not to make a fortune.” The wealth was elsewhere. She was sharing this human adventure where Sébastien writes and Damien draws to transport the reader to another dimension.

Living in Buzet, Sébastien Lopez is a civil servant at the departmental council. Damien Teyssandier is an education assistant at the Val de Garonne high school in Marmande. With Cairns, they return with the same delightful formula.

This time there is no more common thread – the grandfather is dead. The writer drew on his personal journey to disseminate, “like on a blog”, his reflections. The artist follows his trail. They are in the transmission of a lived experience, an experience. “Each of these small texts is both a stone and a symbol of a progressive elevation which will serve as a landmark for future passers-by,” explains publisher Jacques-André. Cairns are these small piles of stones placed on top of each other by passing hikers. These buildings emerge at the bend of a mountain path. They can serve as a beacon to reach the summit without getting lost and find the hidden stones…

Cairns is available from Martin-Delbert in , “Au Gand de la clef à molette” and Libellule” in Marmande. It can be ordered from all bookstores or online.
