Very often, we feel like the objects of certain cultural codes based on our origins that we did not choose. To reconsider approaching our birthplace without feeling stigmatized and patriotic, Kincső Bede offers a photo book. She grew up in Romania in the Székely Hungarian minority of Transylvania, and until now, in her rigorous photographic style, she has always dealt with her own family stories, the socialist legacy of a bygone era and traditional Székely motifs so to find your place in the world. Intimate photography is a key tool in his identification process, which allows us to experience the vividness of his images. His “mini-series”, which apply the visual contrast of the aesthetics of fashion photography and the rural environment, are scattered in different parts of the book and thus invite us to associate them with each other.
Treasured Bede (born 1995) works in Budapest (HU) and Covasna (RO). She holds a master’s degree in photography from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest and a bachelor’s degree in film editing from Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.
