Book fair in Chaumont: here we go!

The Chaumont Book Fair will take place from May 23 to 26. This more festive 20th edition will begin this Thursday. Program.

The 20e edition of the Book Fair begins this Thursday, May 23. On this occasion, Odyssey, a retrospective exhibition of the work of author and illustrator Étienne Chaize (Éditions 2024) is presented at the Jesuit chapel. The opening will be held at 6 p.m. We will find the universe of his works (Boule de feu, Helios and his last Ether) through original boards and installations imagined by Éditions 2024.

Etienne Chaize exposes

Étienne Chaize is one of the guests of this ”new formula” edition, so he will participate in a round table on Saturday May 25, ”Graphic art as an initiatory quest” with Lisa Blumen and Delphine Panique and hosted by Laurent Bazart and Jérémie Claeys of Sens Créatif. Also meet at the Le Pythagore bookstore stand on Saturday 25 and at the Jesuit Chapel on Sunday 26 May, for a signing session.

Battle Comics

This May 23, the public is also invited to attend a BD Battle at 8 p.m. and a concert at 9:30 p.m. on Place des Arts. The principle of a Battle Comics is simple, it is a show promoting comics through live drawing, combining music, humor and audience participation.

“Like an improvisation match, the authors compete on stage via drawing. The host, Tony Curien, guided by the audience’s suggestions, imposes a theme. In three minutes, they produce a work poetic, funny, offbeat or even engaging, to the rhythm of the DJ’s playlist. Their feats must tell a story in order to convince the public to be declared the winner.explains Justine Ansel-Roy of the City’s cultural department.

Electro pop tale

The team had already come in 2021 for the last Book Fair, for several school shows.“Given the success, it was decided to offer a show open to all and outdoors in order to invite as many people as possible.”

The evening will continue with Amaan, “which is an electro pop tale. A modern-day odyssey, Zola electro hip-hop version”. Believing in yourself and being overwhelmed, that’s the subject.
