19 years after this tragedy, Grace, a journalist and committed activist, breaks the silence. With moving sincerity, she recounts the horror of that night when press freedom was violated in the most cruel way. His father, Franck Ngyke Kangundu, head of the political section at the newspaper La Reference Plus, and his mother, Hélène Mpaka, were cowardly murdered in front of their children.

That night in 2005, Grace Mambu Kangundu Ngyke’s life changed forever. When she was just a child, she helplessly witnessed the assassination of her parents, a heavy blow to the Congolese press and the family. His father, Franck Ngyke Kangundu, was a committed journalist and defender of freedom of expression.

Through this story, she wishes to pay tribute to her father and mother, and to bear witness to the impact of this event on her life and that of her brothers and sisters. His story, imbued with deep emotion, retraces the hours which preceded the tragedy, the horror of the crime and the devastating consequences on the family.

Grace chairs the Congolese Association of Women Journalists of the Written Press (ACOFEPE) and is national coordinator of the Network of Women Leaders for Access to Speech (RFLAP).
