Espace Gaston-Larrieu, the Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx library has officially become a media library. On Friday, September 27, the symbolic ribbon was cut in the presence of community representatives, the Landes Family Allowance Fund and representatives of the eleven adolescents who make up the municipality’s Municipal Youth Council, because they are the ones who chose the new name of the establishment: L’Anima.

Structuring equipment for the town center of Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx, the rehabilitated site now offers 12,000 volumes to its users, with a capacity to increase to 15,000. Reception is provided by a team of two municipal employees (management and mediation) and thirteen volunteers. Registration is open to everyone, without proof of residence.

In his inaugural speech, the mayor, Julien Fichot, spoke of “a place dedicated to books and all media, a place of life where we are cultivated and where we have fun”. An intergenerational space, the media library is also a games library and households can borrow video games or boxes of board games.

Shows too

The Anima is naturally intended to host cultural events programmed by the municipality. The theme of the environment will serve as a common thread this fall. Until November 21, the exhibition space will show “Portraits of critters”, or so many creatures made from recycled materials by Ateliers Arts Terre ().

In addition, the media library also opens its doors to families who love shows, with “Mon Arbre-mère” on Saturday October 19, for very young children… and the adults who accompany them.

L’Anima Media Library, 2 rue du Seignanx, Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx. Open Monday to Saturday. Information on 05 59 56 18 96 or www.saintmartindeeignanx.fr
