For its 15th show, Binaros has chosen a non-exclusive theme which focuses on women, in Pyrenean history, until today.
As Renaud De Bellefon pointed out, “it is a common thread in a territory where women have a singular status and occupy a particular place in Pyrenean literature”. And the jury, which “did not impose any constraints on itself in relation to a theme, still awarded prizes to books written by collectives, where women are very present”.
Live, at the SLP you can browse, meet, debate so many subjects that it is no coincidence that around 75 exhibitors will be there to welcome visitors always hungry for new things, making an appointment with an evolution between history and contemporaneity .
Between sea and ocean, an immense “playground” for the book.
At the SLP we find books dedicated to leisure, heritage, but also novels, fiction, testimonies, artistic works of photos, drawings… with also a children’s area. A common denominator, what relates to the mountain, with a focus on its history, its specificities. Each year, new products are presented by editors. Note “the presence of small publishing houses which take care of the subjects, the presentation, the cult object of our libraries”.
The opportunity to leaf through the books, but also to meet those who wrote them during round tables and literary cafés. Because these authors who know how to write and sometimes keep us in suspense also know how to talk about the subjects that they have put down on paper and which particularly touch us in terms of testimony to the past and a reality (especially that of women) , changes that the mountains and their cities are undergoing in our contemporary era, between climatology and human behavior (water towns, etc.). We also talk about drawings, photos, film screenings, theater shows…
The meeting place for Pyrenees enthusiasts
Over the years, the award categories (knowledge, literature, guide or Binaros) have been the pillars of this show and guide you in your choices or discoveries.
The selection to be discovered in 2024 has not failed in its reputation: the writing, the interest of the subject, the illustrations, the care taken in the edition. We will also be able to find the prices of previous years which illustrate the richness of Pyrenean literature.
