“My children were afraid for me”: our correspondent in Israel describes the situation there during the Iranian shots

From Tel Aviv, our correspondent Bethsabée Salem explains the situation on the spot after the missiles fired by Iran.

From Tel Aviv in Israel, our correspondent Bethsabée Salem discusses the events of the evening and the missiles fired by Iran. “We’ve been literally under missiles in Tel Aviv for over half an hour.“, she said. “The sirens follow one after the other. Lots of explosions, sometimes extremely loud. I am currently in front of a public shelter because in Tel Aviv, very few people have shelters in their buildings.

A terrorist attack also took place in Tel Aviv just before Iran’s shots. “It’s on the tram“, she said. “There are at least four deaths according to the information I have.

Our correspondent obviously also has to protect her family. “My children are in the shelter“, she said. “They were actually very afraid that I would leave them, not because they were afraid of being alone, but because they were afraid for me. Safety instructions are very strict. When there is an alert, you have to take refuge. And after the alert, you have to stay several more minutes in the shelters. For what ? Because even if these missiles are intercepted, there are huge debris that can fall and which can cause accidents, which can even kill people. So, it is extremely dangerous.
