That's it, the new commune of Plumieux, near Loudéac (Côtes-d'Armor), has been in effect since January 1, 2025.

The installation of the municipal council of 35 elected officials will take place Tuesday January 14, 2025. And new mayor will be elected.

Only one candidate for mayor

“It’s the youngest of the three who presents himself! ” spear Sébastien Quinio. The current mayor of Plumieux is, for the moment – “We are not immune to a surprise” – the only candidate for the position of mayor of the new commune of Plumieux.

Resulting from the merger with Coëtlogon and Le Cambout, the new commune has been in place since 1is January 2025after a long process and withdrawal from the project (that of Saint-Étienne-du-Gué-de-l'Isle, in February 2024).

The installation of the new municipal council, and therefore the election of the mayor, takes place Tuesday evening January 14, 2025at Cambout.

After the 2026 municipal elections, the number of councilors will drop to 23, with the possibility of only occupying the council room of Plumieux town hall.

More than 1,650 inhabitants

The new commune now has more than 1,650 inhabitants: 1,025 inhabitants in Plumieux (in 2021); 408 in Cambout (in 2022, census planned for this year); 225 in Coëtlogon (in 2022).

For the creation of the new commune, public meetings were organized during the year 2024. If the project was easily accepted by the inhabitants of Cambout and Plumieux – “for whom it does not change much, it “It’s natural” says Sébastien Quinio – it was a little more complicated on the Logonais side.

Indeed, in Coëtlogon, the standoff was public between the former mayor, François de Carnéand the current mayor, Annie Robertin April 2024. Opponents of the new municipality have expressed their concerns about the end of Logonese identity, among other things…

What changes or not

On July 4, 2024, the new commune took the unique name of Plumieux, a creation ratified last September by a prefectural decree.

For many months, organizational meetings followed one another, in particular for the merger of administrative, technical and extracurricular services, which include 17 people. “In fact, they have been collaborating since the beginning of July,” explains Sébastien Quinio.

The agents remain in place. The general director of services in place in Plumieux has already been the link between the two other municipalities for several months.

On the technical services side, the recruitment of a coordinator is underway. “The technical room and the town hall are in Plumieux, there will be local centers in the two delegated municipalities,” adds Sébastien Quinio.

What projects in 2025?

On the financial side, the lights have been green for several months, giving the possibility of programming projects in 2025, in the three municipalities of Plumieux.

In Plumieux itself, this is the childhood center and the childminder home.

At Cambout, this is the multi-service business in the old bakery, already announced in January 2024 during the mayor's first wishes Pierrick Glais.

In Coëtlogon, this involves the energy renovation of municipal buildings. During the last municipal councils of the three communes, financial solidarity was precisely on the agenda for these three projects of Plumieux la nouvelle.

Tuesday January 14, at 7:45 p.m., in the Jean-Noël-Lagueux room in Cambout (in the village hall, behind the town hall), installation of the new council of the new commune.
