The municipal section of Pastef in Vélingara reacted to the arrest of their comrade Abu Djiba, municipal councilor and party communications officer, placed in police custody yesterday, Monday, at the territorial gendarmerie brigade.
In a press release, Pastef Vélingara denounces what he considers as a “settlement of accounts” orchestrated by administrative authorities, as part of the case of the “false assessment of 8 dead” linked to the accident on May 3, 2025 in Saré Thialy (Vélingara).
According to the municipal section of Pastef Vélingara, the allegations on the participation of Abu Djiba in a “disinformation company are completely unfounded”.
In reality, the party stresses that “during the launch of a prize pool in support of the victims of the accident, Mr. Abu Djiba was misleaded on the number of deaths recorded and communicated in the group WhatsApp Pastef, a record which he quickly rectified four minutes after his publication”.
The press release also recalls that several media, including the daily Le Soleil, also made errors in the processing of this information.
Consequently, the municipal section of Pastef Vélingara firmly condemns this arrest, which seems to be a settling of accounts, and requires the immediate release of Mr. Abou Djiba.
