On the occasion of the Labor Day, the General Federation of Workers of Senegal/B (FGTS/B) published a manifesto in which it returns to the international, African and national situation, before formulating a series of claims.
On the national level, the Central Union deplores economic precariousness, inflation, the high cost of basic necessities and massive layoffs. It claims its official recognition as a 5th union center in the country, after obtaining a score of 10.20 % in the last elections of representativeness. The FGTS/B thus requires the immediate delivery of its receipt and denounces the persistent blockages of the Labor Administration.
It also criticizes its exclusion from recent discussions on the Social Stability Pact, even though the Head of State and the Prime Minister advocated an inclusive approach. The power station plans to boycott all the social dialogue bodies, as long as the past sectoral commitments are not respected.
Finally, the FGTS/B pleads for a structural reform of the retirement system by the merger of the FNR, the IPRES and the CSS, as well as for the application or the ratification of several international conventions (183, 100, 111, 156, 190) on the rights of workers, in particular women.
