It is now official: TF1 agreed with Dazn, holder of the rights of the world Cup clubs (June 15-July 13), to recover two games from the competition. It is the shock between PSG and Atlético and the final.
Two games from the next Club World Cup will be broadcast on TF1: PSG’s entry into the Atlético Madrid on June 15 (9 p.m.), as well as the final on July 13 (9 p.m.). The French audiovisual group announced on Tuesday that it has reached an underside agreement with Dazn, holder of the rights of the competition which will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.
“This new agreement between the TF1 group and Dazn reaffirms the will of the TF1 group to offer the French access to the biggest competitions”, rejoices the press release without specifying on which channel of the group the two meetings will be broadcast. The front page could be confronted with a dilemne on July 13 since that day, the French will face the countries-pasts for their last group of the Women’s Euro, of which TF1 is the broadcaster.
Last December, the international TV rights of the Club World Cup, organized in 2025 by FIFA, was allocated to the British platform Dazn for an amount of around one billion euros. The 63 matches of the tournament, which will bring together 32 teams, will be available “for free for fans around the world”, explained Dazn, “with the possibility of sub-delivering the rights to free local television channels”, which the streaming platform therefore did with the French group.
-There had been discussions with M6
It is a small victory for TF1, while Dazn was also in discussion with the M6 group … which, in March 2024, delighted TF1 the matches of the 2026 and 2030 Worlds, causing a thunderclap in the French audiovisual landscape. If it did not buy any match in M6, it would be the first time that the first channel, created in 1975, would not broadcast any World Cup encounters.
Also in France, in dispute with the Professional Football League, Dazn, the main holder of TV rights in Ligue 1, settled on May 2, its legal dispute with the LFP, for the payment of the last two deadlines due by the British platform for this season (140 million euros) and the end of the procedure initiated by Dazn before the Paris Commercial Court.
The British media which holds the rights of the L1 until 2029 for nearly 400 million euros annually, demanded from the League 573 million euros for “observed failure” and “deception on the goods”. This agreement paved the way for the creation of a channel by the LFP, in which Dazn hopes to participate.
