On the occasion of the International Labor day, celebrated this May 1st in the Senegalese television broadcasting (RTS), the director general Pope Alé Niang issued a discourse marked by an assertive desire for reform, recognition of staff efforts and openness to social dialogue.
In an atmosphere full of solemnity, Pope Alé Niang opened his speech with a vibrant tribute to work, erected in founding value of human dignity. “Work, beyond its economic usefulness, is a form of adoration of the creator,” he said, emphasizing the moral and spiritual scope of professional commitment.
Greeting the resilience, the competence and dedication of RTS agents, he expressed his gratitude to those who, “sometimes at the risk of their physical and moral integrity”, work every day to maintain the reputation of the public audiovisual service. “Agent RTS, Jambar DEUG La,” he said in a nod of the sacrifices made.
Soon a year after taking office at the head of the RTS, the Director General draws up a first step assessment: structural reorganization, strengthening of governance, improvement of content, reactivity during major events, energizing the digital presence. Strategic transformations have been undertaken, including the creation of a direction dedicated to the production and redistribution of the former administrative and financial management in two distinct entities.
At the heart of this refoundation, the desire to reconcile RTS with its audience remains the course. Refocusing on the core business and results -based management constitute the pillars of this ambition, with increased involvement of managers in planning, monitoring and evaluation of performance.
Pope Alé Niang has also declined several social measures businesses during the past year: 23 tickets for the pilgrimage to Mecca, 4 for Rome, distribution of 3,900 food kits during religious periods, moral and material support to bereaved agents, reinforced support for IPM. These gestures, according to him, reflect the commitment of the management to improve the daily life of the staff, “to the extent of the available resources and in accordance with the texts in force”.
Addressing the social partners, the director general insisted on the need to go beyond the cleavages to “reflect and act as a team”, in a reinforced dynamic of dialogue. The resumption of monthly meetings with staff representatives, the upcoming creation of a corporate social dialogue committee, as well as the renegotiation of the collective business agreement, are part of this logic of shared governance.
On the occasion, Pope Alé Niang calls to “mobilize all creative energies” to bring out a more autonomous RTS. The digitalization of internal procedures, the repositioning of RTS 2 in sports and cultural chain, the revival of the catering, the regularization of the land files of Diamniadio and Mbour 4, or the completion of the RTS tower, are among the priorities.
“Our new ambitions require a new posture from us,” he said, concluding his speech on a strong call for collective engagement: “Let us mobilize all our creative energies so that the RTS of our dreams will see the day. »»
