In this new year 2025, the Baudouin Square Pavilion in Paris dedicates an exhibition to the famous and talented photographer Kate Barry (1967-2013). Inevitably associated with her mother Jane Birkin and her half-sister Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kate Barry marked the history of contemporary photography thanks to his fashion shots, but also to his portraits devoted to his family and many celebrities.

For this unique exhibition, the Baudouin Square Pavilion presents a more unknown facet of the work of Kate Barry : that around landscapes. Entitled “ Interstices: Kate Barry and the landscape », this installation thus reveals atmospheres imbued with poetry and subtlety, often melancholy. The opportunity to (re)discover all the sensitivity of Kate Barrywhich takes a new look at marginalized landscapes.

We recall that Kate Barry began her career as a photographer in 1996, before becoming a leading portrait painter as well as an accomplished fashion photographer in the early 2000s. In 2002, Kate Barry is interested in the landscape which then becomes his new “ playground ».

She begins with Breton landscapes then sets up a unique photographic writing mixing landscape and ruin. The artist thus chooses to capture traces of plants in abandoned architecture. The trips also follow one another for Kate Barry (Jordan, United States, India, etc.), sometimes alongside the writer and journalist Jean Rolin.

Of Friday January 10 to Saturday March 8, 2025come and admire these photographs of Kate Barry dedicated to landscapes, during this unique and free exhibition not to be missed at Baudouin Square.
