Aya Nakamura is one of the most prominent names in the run-up to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. It must be said that Emmanuel Macron’s choice to make him the star of the event sparked many reactions, both positive and negative. Jack Lang clearly chose his side, and he made it known.

Nothing has been made official, but there is little doubt that Aya Nakamura will indeed be present as the face of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. This decision, coming straight from the Élysée, has caused a lot of ink to flow since its revelation by L’Express in February. And if the left and the stars rather rushed to the aid of the interpreter of “Djadja”, the right of the political spectrum did not hide its skepticism.

As a counterweight to Eric Zemmour, Marine Le Pen and even Gérard Larcher, certain politicians wanted, on the contrary, to say all the good things they thought of this initiative. And obviously, on this matter, Jack Lang’s opinion was expected, and it was not really surprising.

Jack Lang 100% validates the choice of Aya Nakamura

Questioned by “La Tribune Dimanche”, the sulphurous minister indeed gave his full support to the singer, without any reservation:

It’s an excellent choice. She has a powerful voice. It will be a global event. Aya Nakamura has a powerful physical and vocal presence. She is magical.

The former Minister of Culture also said he was shocked by the exit of Marine Le Pen, who considered it a “humiliation” for France:

I am revolted by the words of Marine Le Pen. Revolted, but not surprised. Where is the humiliation? It is she who humiliates the country with her wickedness. It is shocking to treat Aya Nakamura in such vulgar terms. It is a source of pride and happiness that she is one of the voices of France.

A speech which must have pleased the main interested party, and which was added to the long list of pro-Nakamura remarks made by various personalities. Among those who took a stand, we can notably cite Michel Drucker, Michèle Torr, Lara Fabian, Hugues Aufray, and even Patrick Bruel. The latter was very firm:

How would she not represent France? When Jessye Norman sang the Marseillaise in 1989 for the bicentenary of the revolution, she represented France? This type of debate leads into bad territory that we would not like to hear. I wouldn’t like to imagine the reasons why there is this controversy… In any case, I would be delighted to hear him sing Édith Piaf.

As former Minister of Culture, Jack Lang did not hesitate to provide his supportin full and total to Aya Nakamura, whom he considers fully qualified to be the star of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Further proof of the good image that the native of Bamako has among showbiz and personalities, the vast majority of whom validate the choice.
