On the occasion of the worldwide release of the documentary I am: Celine Dion on June 25 on Prime Video, Céline Dion is the exceptional guest on the 8 p.m. news this Sunday, June 16. Anne-Claire Coudray met the singer in Las Vegas, her adopted city, for a heart-to-heart interview about her illness, stiff man syndrome, which forced her to step away from the stage. “I had no choice but to leave the stage because my vocal cords have always led the way”declares Céline Dion in this interview. “I had no choice, the disease took control of my vocal cords and my entire body, from head to toe”indicates the singer. “I said to myself: I don’t want my children to be afraid. I can’t take this pain of lies anymore”confides Céline Dion, who also explains having “fear for his life, for his children”.

The singer looks back on her complicated journey and all the challenges she had to overcome in the face of this autoimmune disease which causes muscle stiffness in the torso, arms and legs, and can trigger serious spasms. While there is no cure, treatment can help control symptoms.

“It’s like someone is strangling you.”, confided Céline Dion in an interview with the American channel NBC this Tuesday. Forced to cancel a series of shows planned for 2023 and 2024, the singer, who made a surprise appearance at the beginning of the year at the Grammy Awards to present the album of the year award to Taylor Swift, explained that ‘she was determined to get back on stage even if he “you have to crawl”.
