Hubert Benhamdine leaves Un si grand soleil (France 2): “I had to prioritize my health”

There will be change in Such a big sun. After the departures of Manuel Blanc and Aïssam Medhem, another pillar is preparing to say goodbye to the daily France 2 series: Hubert Benhamdine. The actor has just announced that he was leaving Christophe’s costume in the locker room; a character he has played since 2019. (Spoiler alert) The end is therefore near for Christophe, aka The Florist, named after the killer who has already claimed 6 victims in the series. After having managed to keep his double life a secret, and to slip through the cracks of the police, Christophe will be caught up by his past. And this is because of Father Sylvio, the number 1 suspect in the murders, who will give the police clues putting them on the trail of the real killer.

The reasons for Hubert Benhamdine’s departure

The end of Christophe’s murderous madness will mark the departure of his interpreter, as he confided to our colleagues at TV Star. “It couldn’t last forever. We would have ended up getting tired of this story and then I think we reached the climax of this character with his slide into a mystical delirium“, he explained. The actor then revealed that this departure was not a decision of the production, but rather a desire on his part to “personal reasons”. “It occurred to me that I had to prioritize my health, that I take care of myself more.”said Hubert Benhamdine, refusing to give details on this very personal subject.

Why Hubert Benhamdine will not return in Un si grand soleil

And seeing the end reserved for Christophe, a return is no longer on the agenda for the actor. “Every day a floor collapses on his shoulders. She barely has time to digest the first information (that Christophe is the killer, editor’s note) before she is told that her husband is dead., told our colleagues Marie-Gaëlle Cals (Cécile), who plays Christophe’s wife. This character is not the first killed by the writers. Last January, it was Guilhem, played by Manuel Blanc, who died suddenly. “This adventure was very strong and I am very happy that the production trusted me during these five years. But I can’t have regrets. I thank them for writing such a strong release for me. I prefer that rather than saying to ourselves: “Hey, he’s going abroad”. With this last intrigue, we will have seen Guilhem as we have never seen him before! There are no regrets to be had.”the actor told us about the death of his character.
