“The Stuntman”: Ryan Gosling, movie buff’s favorite

Unforgettable Ken in barbiespouse of Eva Mendes with whom he has two children, recognized actor and sexy forty-year-old, this native of London, Ontario, transforms into a stuntman in… The stuntman, alongside Emily Blunt.

Referring to the fact that Emily Blunt was in the cast of Oppenheimer, while he was from that of barbieRyan Gosling indicated, during the presentation of the feature film at the SXSW festival last month, that “the working title of The stuntman was Barbenheimer. And yes, it was just a marketing technique for our film! More seriously, it is a declaration of love to the profession, to all the stuntmen whose work is never recognized and who spend their time hiding so that we, the actors, can pretend that we let’s do all the work.”

Action!

Loosely adapted from the television series The Fall Guybroadcast in the 1980s, The stuntman follows Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling). Backing Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), action film star, Colt abandons his career after a terrible accident and decides to separate from his partner, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). A year and a half later, while working in a restaurant, he was contacted by the production of the film that Jody, who had become a director, was shooting in Australia. Convinced that Jody wants to hire him, Colt arrives on the set and learns from his ex, still angry because of their breakup, that Tom has disappeared. And Jody tasks Colt with finding Tom before the producers notice he’s missing.

“Yes, I did some of the stunts,” Ryan Gosling said. In particular a fall of around ten meters when I was dizzy. You can imagine my fear.”

As specified by director David Leitch, a former stuntman known for having directed the first John Wick, “we wanted to show stunts that haven’t been done on the big screen in years without CGI. We knew that with a story like this, we had to be authentic. I love my special effects friends, but we had to show real stunts.”

“We always give ourselves additional challenges when shooting an action film. Frost is nice, rain too. And then I wondered why I wouldn’t add a dog. And that’s why we have a dog.”

“Everyone had a hell of a workout with Chris O’Hara, our coordinator. Additionally, the actors rehearsed their fight scenes for weeks,” he added.

Rolling fire of action, love story and humorous film, The stuntman was a collaborative project. Emily Blunt requested that her character Jody be fleshed out after reading the script. And she was inspired by filmmakers to work on her role… including Greta Gerwig!

“Strangely, The stuntman depicts the shootings fairly…murder excluded, of course. I always have the impression that the set of a big production is a little chaotic. And the last part of a blockbuster is usually written during filming,” revealed Emily Blunt.

For Ryan Gosling, inspiration came from David Leitch and his wife, Kelly McCormick, producer of the feature film. “I had so much guidance from David and Kelly. Their love story is magnificent. They work together on all these films and treat their crews and cast like family. The way they act as a couple and work together is beautiful to see. At the heart of this film is already a superb love story.”

The stuntman will hit provincial screens on May 3.
