The daughter-in-law of King Harald V and Queen Sonja chose to wear a piece of jewelry dear to her heart as it was her wedding tiara. The Norwegian sovereigns gave this tiara to their future daughter-in-law in 2001. We do not know the exact origin of the jewel, probably designed at the beginning of the 20th century. This tiara was the subject of much speculation and interested the international press because a similar tiara appears on the head of actress Cate Blanchett in the film An ideal husband. Crown Prince Haakon wears his gala military uniform and Crown Princess Mette-Marit wears a red evening dress with delicate tone-on-tone embroidery. This red dress is designed by Norwegian designer Peter Dundas.

The future king of Norway and his wife also wear their Norwegian insignia and awards. Both Haakon and Mette-Marit have the distinction of Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Olaf with collar. They are not wearing the necklace in the photo, however. Crown Princess Mette-Marit is wearing a different dress in one of the individual photos. The Crown Princess wears a pearly dress with rhinestone swallows on the edge of the neckline. In this photo, she is wearing an amethyst tiara.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore the amethyst tiara belonging to her mother-in-law. Queen Sonja received this tiara from her husband. King Harald gave her the tiara and the entire matching set in the 90s. The tiara is actually a convertible necklace. Thanks to a structure, the necklace can be erected and worn as a tiara. The set also includes two bracelets and earrings. The bracelets can also be transformed into a necklace, by attaching them to each other.
