Curious by nature, Bertrand is always on the lookout for the slightest little scoop. Passionate about football, he is never far from football and all the news that comes with it. However, showbiz or political events are also part of his preferred journalistic research.

This Friday evening, C8 offers its viewers a documentary entitled “Monaco, the saga of the Grimaldi”. The opportunity to take an interest in the marriage between Albert and Charlene of Monaco, and in particular its postponement.

Albert of Monaco: Why was his marriage to Charlene postponed?

The rest after the ad

During an exclusive interview, broadcast via a documentary entitled Monaco, the Grimaldi saga, to be found this Friday April 26 at 9:20 p.m. on C8, Prince Albert says it all. He looks back on the history of his family, his journey, his moments of happiness with Charlène, his mother Grace Kelly, and his sisters: Caroline and Stéphanie. To find out more about his marriage to the mother of his children Jacques and Gabriella (the four of them were together in Hamburg yesterday for a special event), we can also refer to this interview he gave to BeIn Sports on 2 April 2023.

His involvement in sport, he who is particularly involved in the International Olympic Committee, is such that he was forced to postpone his union with Charlene, as the journalist Claire Arnoux recalled: “The wedding was even postponed to attend the Olympic Games. I think it was very important.” To which the prince replied, with a smile: “Yes. There has been a change in the date of the IOC session. And so, there you have it, I couldn’t miss one, all the same.”

Albert and Charlene of Monaco, their love for sport

Sport is also at the heart of his relationship with Charlene, and in particular their meeting, which took place during a swimming tournament on the rock: We have an international meeting here every year in June. And so it happened like this. We talked after the competition. I also gave her her medal because she had won her race, the 100 meters of water. And then there we were, we talked afterwards. Because yes, as a reminder, the South African is a former champion in this discipline.

Their marriage was therefore postponed, but did take place, fifty-five years after that of the previous sovereign, Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly, parents of Prince Albert. The festivities started on Friday July 1, 2011, in Monaco. And despite some rumors suggesting a breakup, their union is still alive. They love each other, and there is no doubt about it!
