King Charles celebrated the first anniversary of his coronation in a video posted on social media.
The monarch was crowned alongside his wife Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023, following the death of Queen Elizabeth the previous year.
A post from the royal family on their Instagram showed a montage of Charles’ coronation, with the sequence opening with the king greeting the crowd outside Buckingham Palace the day before the coronation.
The family captioned the 90-second clip: “Today marks the first anniversary of the coronation of the King and Queen at @wabbey. In addition to the service itself, the coronation weekend was marked by a procession in horse-drawn carriage in central London, a flypast, a royal salute by 4,000 soldiers in Buckingham Palace Gardens, a coronation concert at Windsor Castle and a UK-wide volunteering initiative.”
The call for royal fans to share their memories of the big day ended with a question: “What is your best memory of the weekend?”
The audio at the start of the clip comes from a pre-recorded message that Charles broadcast at the time to train and tube stations across Britain.
He is heard saying: “My wife and I wish you and your families a wonderful coronation weekend.”
The video also shows Charles and Camilla traveling to the ceremony from Buckingham Palace in a carriage.
