Nuclear exercises in Russia: should we be worried?

This announcement comes after the head of the French government, Emmanuel Macron, reaffirmed the fact that he “did not rule out” sending French troops to Ukraine.

According to retired Brigadier General of the Canadian Armed Forces, Richard Giguère, one should not worry too much about this type of exercise since it is only training and not a deployment on the part of the Russian forces.

“The military will wear special equipment, nuclear, biological or chemical warfare outfits, gas masks. We look at all our tactics, the distances to be respected,” he illustrated in an interview with LCN.

“For me, all of this is strategic positioning because Putin did not appreciate certain statements that were made last week,” he continues. It’s a bit of their response. Ultimately, I would call it blackmail.”
