David Hallyday: this refusal of the singer who had upset his father

It was a long journey actually. Three or four years ago, I wanted to cover all the songs from the album Blood for blood that I composed for him in 1999, with a more modern production. And then, I said to myself that I could do the same with some of my songs from the 80s which have aged a little. It remained unresolved. (…) At the time, he (Johnny Hallyday, editor’s note) wanted us to rework it on a record together straight away. I composed 5 titles and then I told him: ‘Let’s not do it again Blood for blood bis’. It upset him a little. So I recorded The happiest of men last year, and then I said to myself: ‘I can go further by making an album of covers altogether’“, indicated David Hallyday, also father of two daughters, Ilona and Emma, born from his past relationship with Estelle Lefébure.

David Hallyday’s new album, which contains 15 tracks mixing his repertoire with that of his father in more modern versions, will be released on June 24. Then, David Hallyday will go on tour with a major tour of 100 concerts called “Requiem pour un fou”, which will hit the biggest venues in France, Switzerland and Belgium from November 2. He will be in on November 12 and 13.
